Do you have to put up with challenging or difficult behaviour on a regular basis? If so, it's time to learn how to deal with it. Unfortunately, there is no magic solution which controls challenging behaviour, it is therefore essential that every person confronted with this type of behaviour understands why it happens and is able to devise strategies for managing it.

This workshop aims to assist delegates in improving their ability and confidence in handling challenging behaviour and communicating with difficult people. To achieve this, the workshop is interactive using a mix of challenging discussion, exercises and sharing of personal experiences. At the end of the workshop, delegates are encouraged to complete an action plan that will help them to apply new skills.

  • Recognise the importance of learning coping strategies for dealing with difficult people.
  • Investigate some of the reasons for challenging behaviour
  • Evaluate strategies for coping with a difficult person.
  • Apply steps for responding non-defensively

Communicating with Difficult People

  • Recognise benefits of communicating effectively with difficult people.
  • Evaluate different types of communication styles
  • Assertive communication
  • Understanding body language and facial expressions
